Reminds me of a visit to NYC with my daughter, Kari, years ago. We were spending the day with her school friend, Tamar, who was working in the fashion district. As we walked along the street a street person came up to us and asked for money for food. Tamar had become a savvy New Yorker; she walked into a nearby sandwich shop and bought the man a sandwich and drink - just to make sure he would be getting a meal out of her donation. I was quite impressed, not only with her generosity but her desire to really help!
